Is Breast Lift Or Breast Augmentation Right For Me?

Breast Augmentation vs Breast LiftWhile many women want to enhance the appearance of their breasts, their goals may differ depending on their unique aesthetic concerns. There is no one universal approach to breast surgery that will satisfy the expectations of every patient. Each procedure must be custom-tailored to address the individual’s needs.

One of the most important distinctions in breast surgery is the difference between a breast lift (mastopexy) and breast augmentation. When most people think of breast surgery, they think of breast implants. Breast augmentation with implants can add volume and fullness to the bust, but increasing cup size is not necessarily the solution every patient is seeking.

For some women, a major concern is that their breasts have lost their youthful shape and/or droop lower on their chest. These indications can occur from pregnancy, breast feeding, or changes in the breast tissue due to age. In these cases, a breast lift may actually provide better results than breast augmentation, and can elevate the breasts to a more youthful position. Of course, if a patient has breast sagging in addition to a loss of breast volume, breast augmentation can be combined with a breast lift to optimize the results.
