Probably no advance in medicine has had more of an impact than the development of laser surgery. Lasers work by emitting a powerful beam of light, which targets a specific part of the skin, modifying and improving skin quality. Among the advantages of laser surgery are that there is usually no need for general anesthesia or hospitalization and there is no cutting or blood involved.
Lasers are effective for treating sun-damaged skin, mild acne scarring, age spots and skin discolorations, and many facial scars and wrinkles. Lasers can also be used to remove hair. Other conditions that respond well to laser surgery include treating spider and/or varicose veins.
Laser surgery can be used to remove or lessen:
The UltraPulse Encore has broadened the applications for CO2 laser technology. This laser not only delivers superior tissue effects when treating moderate to deep wrinkles, but when performing a ActiveFX it also addresses fine lines and uneven pigment. By producing a controlled superficial laser peel confined to the epidermis, the ActiveFX with CO2 Lite improves skin tone and surface imperfections with only minimal downtime. (4- 7 days). Dr. LoVerme often uses the Active FX Laser in combination with other procedures, such as facelift, midface lift and eyelid lift .

Similar to the laser surgery techniques used at the LoVerme Center for Plastic Surgery in New Jersey, intense pulsed light (IPL) therapy can be used to treat numerous skin problems, including sun damage, rosacea, and acne. By stimulating collagen growth, IPL photorejuvenation can also reduce fine lines, minimize large pores, and bring consistency to uneven skin texture.
Dr. LoVerme uses the StarLux 500 which is the most powerful Laser & Pulsed Light aesthetic system in the world. The AccuSpectrum(SM) filtering technology improves treatment results and enhances safety. The Palomar Lux G photorejuvenation process uses the optimal wavelength of light to clear vascular and pigmented lesions by targeting hemoglobin (for red) and melanin (for pigmented lesions). Once the light is absorbed as heat by the lesion, the lesion disappears. During IPL® photorejuvenation treatment intense pulses of light remove damaged layers of skin and promote the growth of collagen. The increase in collagen production helps fill in fine lines and reduces skin discolorations.
Although not a cure for Rosacea, The LuxG can significantly reduce the redness and capillaries associated with this condition.
Photorejuvenation is effective on the face, arms, hands, chest and other large body areas, with no downtime. This process can remove damage caused by years of sun exposure and minimize the effects of aging. *
