Breast Reduction
Both physical and emotional problems can result from having overly large breasts. The weight of disproportionately large breasts can cause back and neck pain, bra-strap impressions, skeletal deformities, and other health problems. In addition, many women with larger breasts feel self-conscious about their appearance. Breast reduction, offered at our New Jersey practice, can help to alleviate these problems. By removing excess fat, skin, and glandular tissue from the breasts, Dr. LoVerme can make the breasts smaller and firmer.
About Breast Reduction Surgery
Individual factors and personal preference will determine the specific technique selected to reduce the size of your breasts. There are many different methods of incision used for breast reduction at our New Jersey office. The size and shape of your natural breasts, as well as the desired amount of reduction are factors that will help Dr. LoVerme determine the best technique for you.
A newer procedure called the "scarless" breast reduction, uses liposuction to reduce the size of the breasts and has been used by Dr. LoVerme since 2001. Dr. LoVerme will contour the breasts as he removes the excess fat tissue through the cannula and then reposition the areola. Breast reduction surgery can be performed on an outpatient basis, and it is usually possible to resume normal physical activity in about a week. However, rigorous activities are discouraged for a period of about four weeks following surgery.
