Rhinoplasty - Serving New Jersey & New York

Among all plastic surgery procedures, nasal enhancement, or rhinoplasty, is among the most common plastic surgery procedures performed in our New Jersey office, near New York. Rhinoplasty can be performed on any part of the nose, to increase or reduce its size, to modify the size and shape of the nostrils, tip or bridge of the nose, or to alter the slope or angle of the nose. Rhinoplasty may also be performed to correct an injury or birth defect, or to improve breathing.

Rhinoplasty, at our New Jersey and New York area center, is usually performed under general anesthesia in an outpatient setting. In most procedures, the skin of the nose is lifted away from the bone and cartilage framework beneath, which is then shaped and sculpted as desired. The skin is then redraped over the "new" framework, and a splint is applied to help your nose maintain its new form. In some cases, nasal packs or soft splints may be inserted in the nostrils to provide additional stability.

Following rhinoplasty surgery, bruising, swelling and discomfort can be expected, but all can be alleviated with cold compresses and medication prescribed by Dr. LoVerme (The most visible swelling and bruising are usually gone within two weeks.) If used, packing is removed 24 hours after rhinoplasty surgery, and you can usually return to work or non-strenuous activities within a week. Strenuous activities may be resumed in 4-6 weeks. For more information about rhinoplasty, contact our New Jersey office, outside of New York.
