Plastic Surgeon in New Jersey Implements New Tummy Tuck Technique
Verona, NJ — New Jersey plastic surgeon Dr. Paul LoVerme and his practice in Verona have announced the introduction of an innovative surgical technique for performing abdominoplasty, or tummy tucks. As one of the top cosmetic surgical procedures performed in 2011, the American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS) reports over 115,000 tummy tuck procedures were performed last year, up 85 percent in demand in the past ten years. Dr. LoVerme says he is excited to have witnessed the evolution of the effective procedure and states that the new technique helps improve the quality of his results as well as the comfort of his patients.
At his center for plastic surgery in New Jersey, Dr. LoVerme focuses on a wide range of cosmetic procedures from BOTOX® Cosmetic to breast augmentation. He says as more and more patients have become aware of the benefits of cosmetic surgery in the past few years, advancements in both surgical technology and the types of incisions created by surgeons have continued to emerge. While the new technique offered at his practice is replacing a long-standing, successful procedure, Dr. LoVerme says thanks to recent innovations in surgical techniques, known as progressive tension sutures, patients can now enjoy the benefits of a slimmer, tighter waist with less discomfort and even quicker recovery.
Performed by suturing the flap of the abdominal wall to the muscle, Dr. LoVerme says one of the most notable advantages of the progressive tension sutures is the fact that no drains are needed. He says traditional tummy tuck surgery requires patients to hassle with drains following their procedure that help keep fluid from building up in the body, a step which is rendered unnecessary due to the advanced sutures used in the new technique. Dr. LoVerme says other benefits include the ability to recuperate faster with less discomfort.
Although he says a majority of patients may be good candidates for the progressive tension suture technique, Dr. LoVerme recommends anyone considering the procedure to consult with a board-certified plastic surgeon before undergoing treatment, as not all body types may be a good fit. As with any medical procedure, whether it be tummy tucks or breast augmentation, he says patients should be sure to select a dedicated practice with extensive experience and qualifications in performing cosmetic surgery. Dr. Paul LoVerme Named One of New Jersey’s Top Docs
Our board-certified plastic surgeon, Paul LoVerme, MD, was recently voted one of New Jersey’s Top Docs by New Jersey Monthly Magazine. This peer-recommended list of doctors in a variety of specialties is released every year, and is based on a survey of some of the most experienced, licensed doctors in the area. Each doctor was asked to vote for whom they would choose to treat themselves or their family members. Dr. LoVerme’s inclusion on the 2012 list marks the 10th time he’s been named a Top Doc by the magazine.
The survey was administered by a research firm in New Jersey called Leflein Associates, and approximately 4,453 responses were validated. In order to vote, the doctors have to be licensed by the state of New Jersey for at least five years. After receiving the preliminary results of the survey, an advisory board of 24 professional New Jersey doctors carefully examined the results for any errors or changes. The final Top Docs list for this year includes 839 doctors, encompassing 68 different medical specialties.
