Sculptra® Aesthetic is an innovative injectable volumizing agent available from plastic surgeon Dr. Paul LoVerme that can address a “hollow” appearance in certain facial features. The treatment can also be useful for smoothing away lines and wrinkles along the face. Sculptra® Aesthetic is approved by the U. S. Food and Drug Administration to treat lipoatrophy (facial fat loss), a condition which can cause a hollowed or “sunken” appearance in areas such as the cheeks, temples, chin, and around the eyes.
Sculptra® Aesthetic is composed of poly-L-lactic acid – a synthetic, biocompatible substance that stimulates the growth of new collagen in the treatment areas. This procedure can be very effective at replenishing lost facial volume and giving you a healthier, more youthful appearance. Plus, Sculptra® Aesthetic’s unique makeup allows it to create extraordinarily long-lasting and natural-looking results..
Sculptra® Aesthetic Treatment
There is typically no need for an allergy test prior to treatment with Sculptra® Aesthetic. The solution will be injected into the areas targeted for treatment using an ultra-fine needle. The solution contains Xylocaine to minimize discomfort. The procedure usually takes about 30 minutes or less, depending upon your unique needs and goals. A series of Sculptra® Aesthetic treatments will be necessary to yield the best possible effects.
Sculptra® Aesthetic Results
While there will likely be some mild swelling and redness in the treatment areas after the Sculptra® Aesthetic procedure, most patients are able to resume normal daily activities immediately. As the collagen continues to regenerate and replenish the skin, the effects of Sculptra® Aesthetic should become more and more apparent in the days, weeks, and months following treatment. This particular injectable procedure is known for the longevity of its effects – in fact, many patients experience the results of Sculptra® Aesthetic for up to three years or more. Occasional “touch-up” treatments can keep the effects going for an even longer period of time.
