Derma Filler Bellafill® is the Only FDA Approved Non-Surgical Option with Permanent Results
For the first time in U.S. history, the FDA has approved a permanent cosmetic filler! Derma fillers have become increasingly popular for their non-surgical augmentation capabilities. Boasting short treatment sessions and fast recovery times, they are the aesthetic improvement choice for many people. However, only Bellafill® can claim permanency. The FDA approved Bellafill® in late 2006 for the correction of nasolabial folds (smile lines). It offers the safety, convenience and minimal down time of the other injection based treatments, but instead of being a temporary solution, it is permanent.
Other similarly administered wrinkle improvement procedures are temporary because they are made of components that naturally break down over a period of time being slowly absorbed by the body. Repeat injections are necessary to maintain the corrections because of the limited duration of results. The secret to Bellafill® is its groundbreaking patented formula. Bellafill® contains tiny PMMA (poly-methyl-methacrylate) microspheres (spherical particles) in a purified bovine collagen gel, along with an anesthetic for comfort during injection. The collagen acts as a carrier for the PMMA and dissolves over several months, leaving the microspheres in your skin. These microspheres provide structure, like scaffolding, that skin will then build its own collagen around. Bellafill’s® permanent component, PMMA, does not break down. The microscopic PMMA beads stay in the skin permanently adding support where needed. PMMA is one of the most widely used synthetic implant materials in medicine. Prior to treatment, a skin test is required as a safety precaution to make sure that you are not allergic to the bovine collagen or anesthetic in Bellafill®.
Bellafill® is injected underneath the wrinkle, just above the skin’s fat layer. It provides the soft, supportive foundation that your skin needs for long-lasting wrinkle correction. Bellafill® is a dual-acting injectable wrinkle filler. First, it visibly corrects the wrinkle. Then the unique microspheres provide the permanent support the skin needs for long lasting wrinkle correction. Often the desired effects are reached in just one or two treatments depending on the depth of the fold or wrinkle.
Treatments typically last 10 to 20 minutes and are usually painless. One to three months after the initial treatment an additional session to “fine-tune” the results may be suggested. Because it is a non-surgical process recovery is virtually immediate with no down time for most patients.
Bellafill® may be the new treatment of choice for smile lines (the lines between the nose and corners of the mouth) when permanent correction is desired. Bellafill® can also be used to plump up marionette lines (the lines and depressions below the mouth), fill in scars and smooth out depressions and crooked contours on noses. Bellafill® is also often used in combination with Restylane®, Juvederm®, Radiesse®, Botox® and laser enhancement treatments, for comprehensive rejuvenation.
